Ask an Expert: Secondary Stroke Prevention: What you need to know

In this Ask an Expert session, we’re diving into the important topic of secondary stroke prevention, especially for those who have already experienced a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). We have two fantastic speakers joining us: Allison DeWitt, a clinical nurse specialist in stroke care, and Vivian Kale, a clinical pharmacy specialist in neurology.

Throughout this session, we’ll explore key concepts like understanding medical terms related to stroke, identifying common risk factors, and learning how lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of a future stroke. We’ll also go over how to recognize the signs of a stroke and what actions to take if you suspect someone is having one. From managing diet and exercise to addressing smoking and stress, the focus here is on practical strategies that can make a real difference in preventing another stroke.
